Hi everyone!! I'm Mel, and I started Little Acre Farm in 2020! Growing up on a farm allowed me to see the benefits of hard work, nature, and a healthy lifestyle, which inspired me to continue farming and allowed me to start my own business.
I grew up on a grain farm in Arnaud, Manitoba and was always very involved with the farm starting at a young age. After graduating high school, I studied Agriculture at the University of Manitoba.
After completing University, my interest in horticulture grew and I completed a 6 month internship at Blue Lagoon Organics, a local market garden in St. Francis Xavier. The following year, I decided to start my own market garden, growing vegetables, fruit and raising chickens.

ABOUT LITTLE ACRE FARM
My parents immigrated to Arnaud, Manitoba in 1991 from Germany. In Canada, they started grain farming, they both also had farm backgrounds in Germany. I always enjoyed helping out on the farm throughout my childhood. During University I met my boyfriend Lyndon, who was also studying Agriculture. I moved to Gladstone, Manitoba in 2016, which is where Lyndon farms together with his dad. 2019 was my first growing season, selling produce at local farmers markets, and I am now selling from our yard, just outside of Gladstone! I am very excited about the future and can't thank everyone enough for all the love and support that I am already receiving!!

LOCALLY GROWN AND MADE
Along with the produce grown at Little Acre Farm, we also purchase other Manitoba- made products as well as fresh BC fruit!
